Favorite Book? Empty Favorite Book?

Post by natashasurgirl Mon Sep 16, 2013 12:16 am

What's your favorite book and why?

For me, one of my favorite books is "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum.

Why? Well, when I was younger I often read books as a way to escape reality. I would read anything I could get a hold of fiction wise, and would take the time to read any subject I could in nonfiction at my school library. I loved sucking in all the information that I could. I would try to find proof that Nessie and Aliens existed (still a believer of both), and was fascinated with the unknown. I grew to learn to love writing as another escape.

Eventually I found this book at a yard sale and I was absolutely fascinated by it. Anyone who can make you realize the beauty in simple things or make make you think about things from a different perspective is always amazing to me. I love how Robert uses real life experiences, every day experiences that makes you think differently. One of the most memorable pieces to me in that book was about a spider and how she must have viewed the woman screaming at her and trying to beat her with a purse.

I suppose that's why it's a favorite to me!

What about everyone else?

I think Eon, by Greg Bear was one of my favorites I ever read. Followed closely by the Myst trilogy.

my favorites change depending on my mood at the moment the Carpathian series by Christine Feehan and the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. I just love the romance and the look at a different race that's not human yet not vampire is pretty cool (and the vampires themselves in the series are pretty awesome.) and well the Kane Chronicles I've always been a bit obsessed with Ancient Egypt especially the mythology so a series revolving around the Egyptian gods is pretty fascinating to me.

Yeah I did. I read the first chapter of the 2nd one and stopped. We bought the books for you. You encouraged me to read them, but I never did. After 2 years I attempted to read the first book again, but lost interest a third of the way through.

I have so many favorite books. I like a lot of Clive Barker's work like Hellboud hearts, The books of blood and Abarat. I also like the Dark Tower books by Steven King and Ender's game by Orson Scott Card. Some of the neatest books I've read are The Mistress of the Art of Death novels. I'll have to dig through the boxes to find them again but they were fun to read. I just relaized i read what sounds like strange stuff. I am currently reading Merlin by Steven Lawhead of the Pendragon series. 11/22/63 by Steven King and LOTR again. I'm also reading lightly the last Dune book by Frank Herbert and Cabal by Clive Barker. Yeah i read a lot.

Yeah the second one drags a bit but if you can get through it you're in for a great ride.
