What is Nanowrimo?

Nanowrimo is an awesome site where those who enjoy writing stories or fanfiction can participate in writing their own “novel”. The idea is that everyone has a story to tell, a book to write, if only they could get it out on paper. Since most people do not take the time to write their book because it takes too much time, or perhaps they are too scared to, the site encourages them to do so with a challenge. The challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month.

November is known as “National Writing Month”. Nanowrimo has made this phrase quite popular, and anyone can participate, even if they do not finish. Ideally, you would finish, and if you wish to become published someday you would spend the rest of the year editing, revising, and rewriting your novel to send in to a publisher or agent. Obviously what you choose to do with your novel is up to you!

How does this pertain to The Mafia Lounge? Well, we have members who enjoy writing, and do participate in Nanowrimo each year, or every here and there. This is a place for us to share the fact that we are participating, and allow us to lean on each other for support while we work towards our goal of completing the 50,000 words!
