Fanfiction and Writer's Block Empty Fanfiction and Writer's Block

Does anyone experience this? Sometimes I just stare at my computer screen and think, "I know what I want to happen, I know what is going to happen, I just can't put it in words?" That's me. On February 14th I will be approaching the 1 year mark of the day I started my first Sailor Moon chapter fic and I just feel stuck even though in reality I'm not actually stuck at all.

I guess I just get wrapped up in so many things, and a huge part of the encouragement to keep writing comes from my reviewers. When your ultimate goal is to write for a living and the only feedback you really get is "keep it coming" it can be disheartening. I wish I would get feedback for my story on where I can improve or work better on my writing, but no. I never ask for reviews, but I do wish people would put more feedback if they are going to review.

On the other hand, I've got a lot of other things going on and I wonder if that is the primary reason. Is it not just the review thing, the lack of feedback, and what not?  Or is it also the desire to work on other projects, like my first novel for nanowrimo, the organization of my home, and going back to raw vegan?

Looking back, I stopped working on my fanfic when I went back to a cooked food diet. Is it possible that I simply lost the motivation by being distracted by junk food? When I eat cooked foods I get unhappy and sad. Maybe I have gotten too miserable to focus on my life's purpose?

I'm trying to figure out the reason for the stall and want to fall out of it. I suppose I could try forcing myself to write it anyways, but ugh it just sucks.

What about everyone else? Does this happen to you? What do you do to get out of it?

Fanfiction and Writer's Block Empty Re: Fanfiction and Writer's Block

I've just looked at an old fanfic today, actually. I started the fanfic six years ago. I'm eight chapters in, but I disliked the writing styles in the old chapters. The fanfic was a crossover, but it had a lot of unneeded references; for example it referenced My Gym Partner's a Monkey, which I apparently watched but I don't remember any of. However, I liked the concepts in the first eight chapters and wanted to see how the story would have ended up concluding.

I ended up rewriting the first two chapters in a manga-style script format, cutting out a lot of the unnecessary crossovers. I think I'll be able to get to the interesting parts of the story with this format.
