Strategies for Individual Roles
Natasha suggested I post a few strategies for the Milk Maid role in the General Discussion thread, so I started an overall thread for Strategies for Individual Roles.
I'll start off with the Milk Maiden/Milk Maid. I've only played the Milk Maid once myself, so I'm more familiar with strategies on how to play a Villager-reacting-to-the-Milk-Maid than a Milk Maid. ^.^
Those Visited by the Milk Maid
-In a "no-reveal" game, everyone should reveal if they've been visited by the Milk Maid the night before, without revealing the Milk Maid's identity of course.
-Townies: If you're aware of the Milk Maid's identity and other players are not, and other players find the Milk Maid "scummy," avoid outing the Milk Maid, especially at the beginning of a game. Attempt to direct attention away from the Milk Maid if at all possible.
Milk Maid
-Other players will slowly learn that you are a Village-aligned character. There's a chance that you'll reveal that you're a special role to an evil-aligned character, as well. For that reason, you might want to try taking an active leadership role early on: placing suspicions on other people, suggesting who to lynch, etc.
-Alternatively, try laying low until the very end, and then claim your role; no one would be wise to counterclaim you at that point.

So the milkmaid finds out who is innocent and the person is aware they were visited? What happens when they visit a mafia member?

From what I am understanding, the mafia will know they are innocent and most likely murder them the next night. *makes ghost noises*

That's how Zodia described the role.

This is a role from Werewolf, but I thought it could be adapted to a Mafia game easily enough. Visits a person every night; GM will PM that person with your name and identity. They will know that you are a good village character.Â

Exactly. Let's say I'm the Milkmaid, you're another player, and Natasha is the GM.Yami wrote:oh, wait? So people find out that milkmaid is innocent not the other way around?
I'd PM Natasha and say "I'd like Yami to know who I am."
Then Natasha would send you a PM and say, "ZodiacRain visits you in the middle of the night and sells you milk. ZodiacRain is the Milkmaid."
It's almost like a reverse Cop; I go around telling people my role.

That'd be a cool role to play with. I think it'd work best in a medium/large game though, like 12+ players.

Re: Strategies for Individual Roles
Switching role spotlight here, does anyone have any good stratagies for playing as the Fool? I played fool in a game once and totally screwed up because I acted too innocent out of habit.
So what is a good way to play fool? Just try to act as scummy as possible? Or maybe claim mafia?

I play fool like I would play as mafia. Makes you come off scummy in my opinion.

Re: Strategies for Individual Roles
Well what's important to know is, what do you want to accomplish? Do you want to be on the winning side period? Because if the fool lives til they end, they can side with mafia for half points, win with townies at 1/3 points, or win as fool with full points by getting lynched.
There's a strategy for each method. Pick and choose! =)

Did you decide on those point divisions? Or is that how epicmafia deals with fools and points?

Re: Strategies for Individual Roles
So since I could be next in hosting (depending if Ed wants to host next or not)...
I'm thinking of having Leader and Silencer as my two additional roles to make the game interesting.
Leader: Townie Aligned. If ever killed, votes will be anonymous for a day.
Silencer: Mafia Aligned. Chooses one person every night. The targeted cannot talk during day.
Just to make sure I understand:
1. Whoever has the Leader role could still win as long as Townies win because it's Townie aligned. Same could be said for Silencer if Mafia wins. Right?
2. Does Silencer attend Mafia meetings?
3. Does the Mafia and Silencer know who each other are?

Re: Strategies for Individual Roles
I looked through the Mafia roles, and found a third-party role that amused me: Clockmaker.
I misread the role at first and thought they didn't have the ability to kill. Including this character in a game with a small team might be too death-heavy.
Has anyone played a game with this character? Are they too death-heavy for a small game?
- Spoiler:
- Clockmaker
Clock starts at 9.
Chooses one person to kill each night.
If victim is villager, clock goes up 2 hours.
If victim is mafia, clock goes down an hour.
If victim is third party, clock goes up 3 hours.
Gets an extra life if clock goes to 11 o clock.
Dies immediately if clock lands on 6.
Wins if 12 o clock, or if one of last 2 alive.

Too death heavy for a small game unfortunately. Looks like tons of fun though!

Re: Strategies for Individual Roles
Voodoo Lady: Chooses one person each night. Chooses one word each night. The next day, if that person says the word, he/she will die.
OK so stupid question about the role. If the chosen person says the chosen word does that mean day phase ends or do we still wait for the lynch vote?
